1/29 Weigh In
About two weeks ago, I weighed in and had gained weight and was up to 162.5. I had difficulty posting because the website kept having some sort of error. Finally I got frustrated and gave up. I also didn't give it another thought for two weeks. Oops. Well I lost that and another .4lbs. I don't know how the hell that has happened. I am still not eating meat, but other than that, I haven't been a very good eater. I have had a bit of a sweet tooth. In fact, I just had ice cream for breakfast. I have justified it by claiming that it is for my sore throat. Although it felt good on my throat, a popsicle probably would have felt better. I haven't had much water either. I have had some Diet Coke the last two weeks. Not daily, but more than I should. My reasoning for that is the caffeine. This has been a very busy week and I have been sick and tired, so I wanted the boost. I know, I am so full of excuses I know. I need to change that and just do the things I set out to do. Eat better, drink water, and exercise. Why is it so flippin hard?

1/8/12 Weigh In
I am down 4.6 lbs from last Sunday!!! It looks like the changes I have made are already making a difference. This week I didn't eat any meat, except seafood (tuna on Friday and oysters on Saturday). I kept my calorie intake between 1200 and 1500 and I only drank water and beer (3 Bud Lights on Friday). I have started eating oatmeal with a mashed banana and 2tsp of brown sugar each morning for breakfast. It is delicious and very filling. I find that I am not as ravenous when I eat this.

I ate like a fatty and now I am dying
Ugh... Today I met a friend for lunch. I definitely overindulged by having an oyster po boy & sweet potato fries. Oh and crab balls. It is 8 hours later and I am still stuffed and miserable. Lesson learned.
I am Still a Vegetarian!!
I have been a pseudovegetarian for six days. It's been pretty fun finding creative ways to make dinner. Someone told me that there is a way to make portabello mushrooms taste like steak, so I am going to have to google that. I thought I would eat meat last night because we were invited over to a friend's for taco night, but her husband made seared tuna, so I had fish tacos. They were delicious and I could stick to my pseudovegetarian plan which allows me to eat seafood and eggs. I will likely not be a vegetarian next weekend though. We are taking a trip to visit family in Tennessee and I am sure I will eat a lot of delicious down-home cooking, most of it made with bacon grease.
Tomorrow is my Blog Weigh-In day. I am looking forward to seeing if I have lost any weight. I don't feel much of a differences but I have made some big changes with my eating habits so I am hoping for a little progress. I am not expecting a huge weight loss, because I have done zero physical activity. Working to incorporate that this week.

Mmmm...Falaffel
I have just completed day 4 of being a faux vegetarian. It's going pretty great so far! Tonight I made Falaffel and ate it on a whole wheat tortilla with a little greek yogurt spread on it. It was delicious!! It tasted like a burritto, but was somewhat good for me.
I have been doing well with not having Diet Coke. No major withdrawal headaches.
I need to start incorporating some exercise here one of these days. It's a little too cold today.
Friday evening, I will be taking a break from being a vegetarian because we are going to a friend's for dinner. I hope I don't fall off the wagon.

Pressing the Tofu
In my efforts to live a healthier lifestyle, I am trying to be a vegetarian. Well a pseudo vegetarian. I am not doing it because of any sort of animal rights thing. In fact I love meat! Especially a big, thick, juicy, medium steak. I am really focusing on eating more fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Now if I go to someone's house for dinner and they serve meat, I will definitely eat it. I wouldn't want to be rude. If I was going to be a true vegetarian for life, I wouldn't but I know that I am not. I am cutting it out for now and hoping that my body will no longer want as much as I want. There is no science behind it as far as I know, just my messed up thinking.
I have found some great vegetarian recipes with the help of my good friend pinterest. The one thing I can't figure out though is tofu. I saw a really great recipe for baked tofu with peanut sauce. Well, it had a really yummy looking picture. It said to press the tofu. It said that if I didn't have a tofu press then to press it between two plates. Then I was to slice the tofu and bake it. I got about as far as getting the tofu out of the package before messing it up. When I tried to press it between two plates, because pseudovegetarian's don't buy tofu presses, it all crumbled. There was no slicing the crumbles. So I stuck it in pan sprayed with PAM and tossed it with BBQ sauce. Then I mixed it up with some pearl couscous. I had no idea what the hell I was doing, but it turned out pretty good. I really would like some baked tofu with peanut sauce if anyone can tell me how to press it. Or better yet, just come press it for me.

Off to a Pretty Good Start
I know it has only been one day, but it was a good day!! I was originally not going to start watching what I eat until after New Year's Day, but I figured why wait. We had no social engagement today. I got my starting weight this AM. According to my Wii Fit, it is almost 166. EEK.
Yesterday, I bought myself an ipod and I am hoping it will be a useful tool in helping keep me motivated and on track. I downloaded an app called the daily burn. I can log food and exercise and probably some other stuff on it. Logging that stuff is a pain in the ass, but with this app, I can simply scan the bar code on many food items. So that is pretty cool.
I went to Kroger and got some healthy foods. I am not sticking to a diet plan, just going to try to eat more fruits and veggies, smaller portions, more water... I am not going to declare myself a vegetarian or anything, but I am going to try very hard to avoid meat. I will continue to eat seafood and eggs. So if anyone has some great vegetarian recipes, please feel free to pass them on. I don't like onions, tomatoes, or any peppers, mainly because the of the texture, but I am going to be open to trying them.
